What the key tasks will look like
As an IT Product Owner, you will lead a growing IT team and take ownership of the technical quality, roadmap, and performance of several software products. You ensure alignment between the product vision, backlog priorities, and the needs of the business.
This role combines technical depth, people leadership, and strong planning & stakeholder management. You will work closely with developers, the Scrum Master, and international teams, including outsourced teams.
Product Ownership & Delivery
- Safeguard backlog priorities based on business objectives and technical requirements.
- Ensure and continuously improve the technical quality of IT products.
- Apply the full Software Development Life Cycle to deliver changes smoothly into production.
- Oversee project follow‑up within governance structures (Security, IDM, Compliance, etc.).
- Review story and increment delivery in close collaboration with the Business Product Owner.
- Work closely with the Scrum Master and development teams to achieve sprint goals.
Team Leadership
- Lead a team of internal and external collaborators and prepare the team for further scale‑up.
- Support team members through change, increased workload, and structural evolution.
- Conduct constructive, sometimes challenging conversations to improve performance and collaboration.
- Build efficient collaboration with international and outsourced teams (including India).
Stakeholder & Communication
- Communicate priorities, risks, and progress clearly and on time to all stakeholders.
- Provide structured reporting to project management and leadership teams.
- Work in close tandem with the Business Owner, focusing on technical and delivery responsibilities (without requirements analysis).
Required Skills & Competencies
- At least 5 years of leadership experience in IT environments.
- Strong technical expertise (software processes, development, deployments) and deep knowledge of the full Software Development Life Cycle.
- Language skills: Excellent English + good knowledge of one of the national languages (French and/or Dutch).
- People management: ability to lead and guide a team in a context of growth, high workload, and transformation; ability to collaborate with local and outsourced development teams.
- Planning & time management: ability to handle high volumes and tight deadlines in a dynamic IT environment.
- Communication: clear, transparent, and structured communication with technical teams, business owners, project managers, and international partners.
